I had a bunch of mosaic tiles that we have zero plans for. I needed something super quick for my 4 year old to do since we have not done anything fun like this in a long time because until Isabella (1 month old) is a little older, it is hard to do sit down arts, crafts, and activities with Esmeralda when I am also taking care of my 22 month old boy. So here it is, our quick bottle fun made into a rolling rainbow!

Our Winter Wonderland post is a potato print penguin with a wintery scene!
My daughter loves penguins, so when I signed up to participate in blogging with the other Winter Wonderland bloggers, I knew what that I wanted to do a fun arts/crafts involving a penguin! At first I was thinking of making a styrofoam penguin, but we are low on funds at the moment so I wanted a cheaper craft that was still fun to do! Thus, the idea of potato print penguins was born!
What
I never got around to doing a leaf rubbing with Esmeralda earlier this fall and since it is still not "officially" winter, I figured we would go ahead and do this now before it was too late!
Sunday morning I had my husband gather up some leaves on his way to putting the kids in the van, as they were spending all day together while I stayed home with my mom and deep cleaned the house, like shampooing the carpets. Anyway, he put those leaves in the van and let them dry out since it is super rainy
Today Esmeralda and I not only wanted to play with play-doh, but we wanted to create Rudolph with play-doh! We watched a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer movie a couple of days ago and since then, I have had this idea floating around inside my head!
What You Need:
Brown and red play-doh
Twigs/sticks to make antlers and a mouth
Googly eyes
Toilet paper roll
What You Do:
We wanted a Rudolph that could stand up, so we used a toilet paper roll to put our brown play-doh
To finish up last week's Letter I, Esmeralda (3.5 years old) and I did a very tiny mini-unit on Italy for social studies. This mini-unit consists of a little geography, an Italian folklore, and a kitchen project making and baking bread! I have a list at the end of ways to expand this unit if you want to do more as well.
Geography: First we looked for a blank map of Italy to color. We found the blank map here. Esmeralda absolutely loved coloring Italy's map. Instead of just scribbling it
This evening Esmeralda and I took a container from the recycling bin to turn into our very own homemade Christmas rhythm instrument. This is really simple and you most likely already have what you need. If you do not, you will find all of this at the dollar store. Not only is this simple, but it is also a lot of fun! Esmeralda loves to shake it and listen to the "music" her rhythm instrument makes! If you do not celebrate Christmas, make the same thing and call it a holiday rhythm instrument
To finish off our Letter H week (a bit late), Esmeralda was excited to paint the letter H using her hands for handprint painting!
What You Need:
Any colored paint. I personally chose orange, yellow, and red for fall/Thanksgiving type colors.
Paper. I chose a brown roll of paper in the mailing section at the dollar store. I regret choosing brown though, as my yellow paint is drying and fading into the brown unfortunately.
A plate to pour a dab of paint on so the kids can smear
The Letter H addition is super late, thanks to the fact that my family and I just cannot get a break with sickness. My 18 month old is going on two weeks with a massive cold that he passed to me a week ago, and I am also still sick from it. It's awful. Anyway, never fear, I finally found the energy to continue my 3.5 year old's school stuff. So Letter H brings us the harp seal addition to our nature alphabet book!
To find some information on harp seals, Esmeralda and I looked at the
This week is Letter H so for math I decided to introduce the number of one hundred! Esmeralda (3.5 years old) also loves to color, so I wanted to make learning to count to 100 a little more fun by making my own color by number chart!
My first step was to find a very basic, free image on Google with a chart that went up to one hundred. I then opened it up into Paint and created my own color code and typed out the numbers for each color next to it. There are several different ways the numbers
First, let me apologize for the delayed posts lately. My 17 month old and I had the 24 hour bug which made the thought of putting a post up unbearable.
Anyway, our next addition for the nature alphabet is for Letter F, the forget-me-not flower! At Dave's Garden we found some information about forget-me-nots since we did not know anything about these flowers except for the fact that they are flowers. Esmeralda loves flowers, so she enjoyed learning about the information while looking
