For letter M, I chose for us to learn about the classic mockingbird. We found a picture and
a ton of information about the mockingbird at BirdWatching-Bliss.com. Here are some things we learned:
- Less than a foot long!
- Eat insects, fruits, and berries!
- Males build nests and females line them, a process of 4-8 days!
- Lay blue-green eggs marked with brown, about 3-5!
- State bird of 5 states: Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas!
Esmeralda enjoyed learning about the mockingbird, though she thinks they are yucky for eating insects.
Here is Esmeralda’s coloring page of mockingbirds!

See you next week with letter N!
